What works
Order confirmations that list what you bought, with item names. Shipping and return emails usually don't list the items, so they won't add anything.
Step 1: find your orders
This is where the time goes. A good search gets you there in seconds.
- Gmail
Search
category:purchases, or open Purchases in the left menu (personal accounts). Narrow it withafter:2025/01/01. If Purchases is empty, trysubject:(order OR receipt OR "order confirmation"). - Outlook
Search
order confirmationorreceipt. - Apple Mail
Search
order, then sort by sender. - One store at a time
Add the store to your search, for example
category:purchases from:ssense.com.
Step 2: forward them all at once
On a computer, you can send a whole batch in one email.
- Gmail on a computer
Tick the emails, open the three-dot menu, choose Forward as attachment, and send to add@brummell.tech. This isn't available in the Gmail phone app.
- Outlook classic (Windows)
Ctrl-click the emails, then Forward.
- New Outlook and Outlook on the web
Select the emails, start a New mail, and drag them into the message.
- Apple Mail on Mac
Select the emails, then Message, Forward as Attachment.
On your phone
Forward one email at a time with the normal Forward button. For a big batch, a computer is faster.
What happens next
You'll get a reply within a few minutes saying how many pieces we found. They wait in Brummell for a quick look before they join your wardrobe. A good place to start is the last 12 months, up to 50 emails per send. Sending the same email twice is fine: nothing gets added twice.
Set it and forget it
Send future orders automatically. We ignore anything that isn't clothing and only tell you when we find something.
- Gmail (on a computer)
Settings, See all settings, Forwarding and POP/IMAP, Add a forwarding address, then add@brummell.tech. Brummell shows you the confirmation code in the app: enter it in Gmail. Then create a filter: search
category:purchases, choose Create filter, and Forward it to add@brummell.tech. No Purchases (work accounts)? Searchsubject:(order confirmation OR "your order" OR receipt)instead. Leave "Keep Gmail's copy" as it is; nothing changes in your inbox. - Outlook
Settings, Mail, Rules, Add rule. Condition: subject includes "order confirmation" or "receipt". Action: Forward to add@brummell.tech. Use Forward, not Redirect: a redirected email doesn't tell us it came from you.
- iCloud Mail
On icloud.com, Mail, Rules: subject contains "order", Forward to add@brummell.tech.
Narrow your rule
If your rule catches lots of mail that isn't clothing, forward only the stores you buy clothes from, for example category:purchases from:(ssense.com OR uniqlo.com), or leave out the busy ones with -from:amazon.com.
A rule forwards every email it matches. We keep only the clothing we find and discard the rest right away. Stop anytime by deleting the rule.
Your privacy
We read only what you forward, and only to find the clothes in it. The details are in the privacy policy.
